Chapters meeting in IRC at 4pm Eastern!

Agenda

Introductions

What's your name? Where are you from? How's your chapter doing? What got you interested in free culture in the first place?

SFC NYC 2011

We'll probably want to talk about the upcoming conference in NYC, Feb 19-20! How can we get lots of SFC members there? How can you help?

How can we better aid chapters?

Care packages? Webspace? What does your chapter need that it doesn't have?

Why are we here?

I think one thing the SFC website has been missing is a good statement about what the organization is and what it does. We used to have the Free Culture Manifesto on the website, which was based on the older SCDC manifesto. I'll be the first to admit that this was a flawed document, but at least it made some attempt at explaining what free culture is about. Can we come up with a modern, updated mission statement for Students for Free Culture? What should such a mission statement contain? It needs to go further than the "purposes and goals from the Bylaws. If nothing else, I'd be happy to write a blog post about this to kick off some conversations. --Nelson 16:00, 11 December 2010 (EST)

DVswitch as possible video software: http://dvswitch.alioth.debian.org/

What the heck are we doing at this conference? We need to sort out the schedule of the conference. Tentative schedule on Google Docs at: https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0ArFV1FoRMhuzdEVqdkZLbHVNMmtQcEdueUZMS1NLWmc&hl=en&authkey=CLaSkb0J#gid=0

We need to figure out what we want the theme of each panel to be, and recruit speakers for them. Speakers are the biggest concern for the conference right now. We will discuss further on the mailing list for the conference, which can be found at http://freeculture.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/conf11
