Here's a list of to-do things for the FC.o Webteam. If you don't like my naming convention in making this page, well, one of the points below is to establish style guidelines for the wiki. So there.

Wiki

  • Un-ghettoize wiki
  • Establish wiki syle guidelines
    • Are we recommending against h1? Should we go through the wiki and change all h1 to h2? -- Gavin 14:06, 3 Feb 2005 (EST)
  • Re-enable upload on wiki
    • Allow uploads of all FC.o-recommended filetypes
  • Change the RSS feed on the Recent changes page on the wiki so it displays a smaller number of changes -- say, 10-20 -- and includes date, user who made the change, possibly time

Blog

  • Make an RSS feed for the aggregator
    • I'll do this probably on Sunday --Pug 11:33, 2 Feb 2005 (EST)
      • Done, but it's RSS 1.0. Then again we don't need any RSS 2.0 features. -- Pug 11:51, 6 Feb 2005 (EST)
  • Help chapters set up and use blogs
  • Install rel=nofollow fix on blog, if not yet nstalled
    • Looks like the plugin has been installed, and it seems to work. -- Nelson 02:24, 2 Feb 2005 (EST)
  • Tone down SpamKarma on blog
    • I think this one has been done, we just set it to be "Very Lenient", and that seems to generate a manageable level of comment spam which I can delete, without any false positives so far. -- Nelson 02:24, 2 Feb 2005 (EST)
      • Last week I got a complaint about false positives; see this. Unless it's been fixed since then. -- Gavin 17:02, 2 Feb 2005 (EST)
  • Find some better way to archive blog posts
    • This seems to have been fixed... J.C. found the option that lets us choose how many posts to display on the "Blog" page, and now there's a nice monthly archive on the right hand sidebar. -- Nelson 02:24, 2 Feb 2005 (EST)
    • Use *snip* after X length or allow author to set snip length?
      • This can be done using the "more" tag, which is a button that you can click on in the "post" or "edit" pane. -- Nelson 02:24, 2 Feb 2005 (EST)
        • Should we incorporate this into the "Best practices for blogging," especially with long / picture-heavy posts? -- Gavin 17:02, 2 Feb 2005 (EST)
          • Yes --Pug 08:01, 4 Feb 2005 (EST)

E-commerce

  • Accept donations, in as many ways as possible
    • e.g. PayPal, credit card, (does Amazon.com still have a donation system?), (mail?)
  • A Web store to sell FC.o merchandise
    • Merch does not yet exist, except for frisbees at Downhill Battle

Site templates

  • Make a favicon.ico of the lego logo and install it on all FC.o sites
    • Done -- Pug 00:46, 6 Feb 2005 (EST)
  • Add a link on all the FC.o pages to "Email the Webmaster" that either emails a particular person or the webteam list, however you want to do it / it can be done
  • Add a link under the XHTML/CSS/etc. buttons on the right-hand sidebar which says "Add this site's RSS feed" which links to a page that explains, briefly, what RSS is and how to use it, including info about LiveBookmarks in Mozilla
    • for n00bs
  • There's a line in the site's CSS which doesn't validate
    • I don't see it -- Pug 00:46, 6 Feb 2005 (EST)
  • Update sidebar templates to reflect who we currently are, what we're working on, etc.
  • Prominent links to subscribe to Announce, Discuss
    • Done -- Pug 00:46, 6 Feb 2005 (EST)
